Couples Intensive Program

Weekend Couples Intensives are a great option for couples who would like to get a lot done in a short amount of time. For couples who do not have the time for traditional weekly counseling sessions or who live out of town, the couples intensive is a great way to jumpstart your your relationship in a short amount of time.

For a one day couples intensive, couples spend 3 hours on a Saturday or Sunday working through their issues. The first hour, your therapist will seek a deeper understanding of the problems you face as a couple. The second hour is divided into individual sessions. During this time, your therapist explores your personal challenges. The focus is to motivate each individual to change their behavior for the better. The final hour focuses on developing a personalized plan of action for change.

Couples can opt for a two day intensive for three hours on Saturday and three hours on Sunday. The additional day is spent covering the plan in more depth and offering practical solutions to day to day problems that keep surfacing in the relationship.

Who would benefit from a Couples Intensive?

Couples with childcare issues on a weekly basis

Couples who live far away from highly skilled counselors

High level executives or business owners who don't have the ability to go to weekly therapy

Any couple in transition (emptynesters, recent retirees, new parents)

Couples who are questioning whether to continue working on a relationship or terminate the relationship (Answering the question-Should I stay or should I go?)

How do I schedule a couples intensive?

You call the therapist, Angela Skurtu, at 314-973-7997 for a 10 minute consultation to see if this type of counseling is a good fit for you. If it seems like a good fit, your therapist will schedule a day and time during the weekend to meet. If you wish to schedule an intensive during the week, you will be asked to put a non-refundable deposit down for the session. (This is because your therapist will need to clear an entire day or half day for the intensive).

Throughout the intensive, your therapist will . . .

Ask you about your goals for the relationship

Provide clear direction and action plans for how to meet your goals

Use research and evidence based treatment strategies (not opinion based)

Challenge you and your partner to change using a direct, non-threatening, supportive approach

Give homework assignments, reading material, videos or other resources to help you continue your growth beyond the couples intensive

Where are clients from?

Missouri, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, or any other state. Mostly clients come from midwestern states, but we welcome clients from across the country.
